Sending in the National Guard

Today’s post will not be long, because I was fortunate enough to get a column published in the Missouri Independent this week. I’ve written for them before, and I’m grateful that they took on this piece about the Los Angeles riots and the St. Louis tornado recovery.

“This juxtaposition is infuriating, and shows that our federal government under the Trump administration is only willing to deploy its resources against its own citizens, rather than to help them.
2,000 National Guard troops helping to rebuild in St. Louis would be a godsend. 2,000 armed National Guard troops protecting ICE agents in Los Angeles is a gestapo. Our federal government has not only turned against its own people, but willfully neglected their most basic duties in the process.”
